"This book was very helpful in preparing to take my state pharmacy law exam. It was very easy to understand and not too wordy. I also love that there are questions at the end of each section and at the back of the book. I have taken and passed my state law exam and I am planning to take a different state law exam and will definitely use this book in preparation for that one too."

Guide to Federal Pharmacy Law 9780967633268 Medicine Health Science Books Reviews
- Update I have taken and passed 4 MPJEs in 2016, using this book to study.
After reading reviews I decided to get this edition, used, instead of the newest one as folks were saying there's not much different in the new edition.
The book is very straightforward and easy to read and study from. However, I found a few errors in the questions in the back.
I graduated years ago and have only practiced in my home state - now I'm taking 4 more states' MPJE. While reading this book, I made note cards and did the questions in the back of the book, and I passed the 2 MPJE exams I've taken so far. - This was recommended to me by one of my preceptors. Reading about law is definitely a boring subject for me. I was easily able to read this book within one weekend (excluding the hundreds of questions in the back of the book). Examples used are brief and succinct. There are also tips and key points outlined which I also found helpful. Apart from the many questions in the back, there are also 5-10 questions at the end of most topic sections. I passed both of the MPJEs I have taken.
Pros Great summary of important topics, well organized, not daunting to read, many federal practice questions, left plenty of time for me to focus on state laws
Cons Several years old, no explanations with answers to practice questions
I have already recommended this product to friends. - This book was greatly helpful for me passing my MPJE, but there needs to be a method to prepration. The first time I took the MPJE, I failed. I prepared for the first one by reading the book first then focusing on the questions - Big mistake. The content is very dry and really tough to get through. I also did not do a great job prepping for the state section. The second time around, I basically prepared by answering the questions then reviewing the corresponding sections in the book to address. I passed the second time around. I also bought a bank of questions for the state section the second time around from pharmacyexams.
If I need to transfer my license in the future, my plan is to review the questions then focus on areas I am having difficulties. - I used this to study for both of the MPJEs that I took. I'm glad I bought it because I really feel that it helped me learn the Federal laws very well.
The best thing about this book is the format. A law review book is no good if you aren't going to read it, but Reiss and Hall wrote this in such a way that it seems like a breeze to read through it. I read through it twice, and it's very refreshing compared to some of the state law books that I had to trudge through.
The review questions at the back were also very good. Tons of questions, and they really helped me nail down the key points I needed to work on. - I bought this for a pharmacy school class, its way cheaper than the newer version and the professor okayed to use it
It seems up to date enough to be of use.
I think it will help with the law portion of the pharmacy boards - I think this book is a good quick reference book if you have prior knowledge of pharmacy law and have experienced the MPJE boards before. It is concise and highlights the major points for review. I am preparing to state the pharmacy state boards in another state and this book has been very helpful in reviewing basic federal law for pharmacists, since becoming licensed years ago. The material is presented in a straight forward brief summation. However, if you are a new graduate from pharmacy school taking boards for the first time, this book will serve as a good supplement to your existing school texts/notes. It is not exhaustive and very detailed as you would expect from a pharmacy law class in school. I would recommend it's use as an additional aide to supplement existing materials for new grads. There's a lot of detailed facts missing in some of the chpts, which unless you have actual practice experience, you might miss out on.
- I have been a pharmacist for 12 years and I recently used this book to prep for the MPJE because I am reciprocating my license to another state. I used this book and reviewed the state’s pharmacy practice act and regulations. I did very well… 96! This book had me way more prepared than I actually needed to be. However, I would much rather be over-prepared, and there is a great bank of test questions in the back of the book. As other reviewers mentioned, there were 3 incorrect answers in the key (#137, 193, and 219) and about 6 or 7 other questions that were just poorly written. Other than these 10 questions or so, the test bank is a good evaluation of your comprehension of the material. Read the book carefully and thoroughly because it is jam-packed with information.
- This book was very helpful in preparing to take my state pharmacy law exam. It was very easy to understand and not too wordy. I also love that there are questions at the end of each section and at the back of the book. I have taken and passed my state law exam and I am planning to take a different state law exam and will definitely use this book in preparation for that one too.
