SMALL VOICES SILENCED The Secret Society of Sacrificed Children Sherrie Clark 9781943106332 Books Reviews
- After I wiped away my tears, I became angry at a system that does not have the best interest of children at heart, but instead operates by often irrational rules and regulations, while children continue to suffer. Thank God for families like the Clark's who are willing to bring the darkness into the light. Their compassion and love is so heartwarming. This book is a necessary read for anyone preparing to deal with the "System" and the children who are not heard. Outstanding
- Wow! What a gamut of emotions I felt while I navigated Sherrie Clark’s memoir of navigating the foster-care system! An excellent “readâ€! Brava, Sherrie Clark!
- This is a must read!!! WOW!!! Chilling and true! Every person needs to read this book. The author did an amazing job!
- Before reading this book, I never heard anything good about the Foster Care system in this country. After reading about Sherrie and Darryl Clark's first experience with them, I understand why. Sherrie reveals the facts of a flawed system ruled by egos instead of A CHILD'S WELFARE.
She balances those facts with the wrenching emotions she and her husband endured as first timers in the system. A just couple who experiences nothing but lies, fraud, and injustice. The reader sees a child finally learning to love only to be snatched away and returned to a putrid parent that Mrs. Clark has the decency only to hint at--I do wish she would have, could have shared that information with the reader. Her newborn sister is yanked away from the same stable environment and given to the same parent--to her nothing more than a stranger. I certainly hope the Mara character in this story was fired by now. Sadly, she probably wasn't and is still inflicting her insanity on other helpless children.
Although the author never learns the outcome of "her" two girls, I will say only there is some happiness down the road for her. We can only hope the same for the girls--statistics say not. God Bless the author for sharing what had to be the most painful experience of her life--I bet she is not the only one who endured the insanity of the Foster Care System. I now know the children experience it on a regular basis. I hope Small Voices Silenced is made into a TV movie. Everyone in America has the right to know how defective and even evil our Foster Care system can be. It is a national disgrace. - Small Voices Silenced was moving and genuine. The reader is invited into the home and heart of author Sherrie Clark. Each page takes the reader into another phase of navigating through the foster care system and running into the roadblocks that can prevent caring and committed foster parents from extending themselves in the capacity they long to. Gratefully, the Clarks kept their hearts and home open to God and to the hope that their family could heal from the initial pain of loss and move forward with a blessed outcome!
- I finished the book in one day and loved it. It was moving and I felt their pain
and anguish. This is truly a great story about a loving family who wanted to do more. All new foster parents should read this book.
I was so happy for them at the end.I would love to read more from this author. Thanks for should a wonderful book and moving story. Annarita - I really enjoyed reading this book. Couldn't put it down. Story filled with frustration and heartache, yet a happy ending. Thank you Sherrie for sharing your story.
- This book is a must read for anyone who is dealing with or intends to deal with the Child Welfare system. I ran the gamut of feelings from anger and frustration to joy. A must read for the lay person who has no idea how this system treats our most valuable and vulnerable individuals.
