Thousands of designers, marketers, and product managers have come to rely on Susan Weinschenk’s original 100 Things Every Designer Needs To Know About People as a “go-to book” for practical advice on how to use the latest findings in psychology and neuroscience to directly inform and improve their designs, brands, and products. Research hasn’t stopped since the book was written, and new design challenges have emerged.
Weinschenk’s new book, 100 MORE Things Every Designer Needs To Know About People applies the latest research in psychology, neuroscience, brain research, and social psychology to the design of technology products, including websites, apps, wearables, and artificial intelligence. Weinschenk combines real science and research citations with practical examples to make her 100 MORE Things engaging, persuasive, easy to read, accessible, and useful. 100 MORE Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People is not just another “design guidelines” book because it explains the WHY behind the guidelines, providing concrete examples and prescriptions that can be easily and instantly applied.

"I haven’t read the first book, but chose to read the follow-up instead.
As with many “xx things about†books, this was not the most enjoyable thing to read. However, it does provide some reinforcement on topics if you’ve already done some research. For example, she mentions System 1 (she calls “truthinessâ€) and System 2 thinking from the book “Thinking Fast and Slowâ€. It also comes across a few marketing-related subjects like shopping and storytelling based on cognitive dissonance.
The book does fall of a bit at the last quarter, which gives you the impression that the author is rushing just to reach 100 (there you go, cognitive dissonance!)."

100 MORE Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People Voices That Matter Susan Weinschenk Books Reviews
- every designer should know these things to it's great for anyone new to the field.
- Good book.
- If you're a designer or work with designers, you need to get this book and the previous one in the series.
- Fabulous book! Very practical for day to day use in marketing. Will be well worn in no time )
- In many ways, this is a deeper insight into 100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know. It is very interesting information, but I have seen her findings corrupt design reviews. If this book is interpreted as quantitative data, it should not be mis-interpreted as qualitative data (most useful).
Consider every variable and think scientifically. - The author does a decent but not wonderful follow up to her popular, well written 100 Things book.
You get the sense that she loses steam, especially at the end when the tips perceptibly go from many pages to just half a page.
The insights are still well researched and backed by data. - I haven’t read the first book, but chose to read the follow-up instead.

The book does fall of a bit at the last quarter, which gives you the impression that the author is rushing just to reach 100 (there you go, cognitive dissonance!). - Dr. Weinschenk really knows her stuff. I've been a fan since I started working as a UX designer/researcher about 15+ years ago. This series is SO easy to browse. Great insights and reminders for even seasoned practitioners, but if you're new to user-centered design it's still very easy to follow. I find myself going through her books again when I'm on a new project because it helps me generate ideas. In addition, I persuade clients to adopt better design practices based on the brain science referenced in her books. Thanks, Dr. Weinschenk!
